I believe this came about because they wanted a mischievous creature on the back that punished the opponent for not having enough cards in their hand, and flavor-wise, that felt a lot like a faerie (it was an imp when it was on Equilor)
It still might not be the absolute best Equipment card in Magic , but unlike the degenerate Skullclamp, Jitte has no famous anecdotes passing it off as a regrettable accident or design oversight
The primary ability of the card is unlocked when you tap the card and remove three charge counters, and gain an extra turn
Its intended commanders give you card draw and board presence, theres plenty of customization with different Doctors/companions, and the cards are individually quite strong, even the ones that arent on-theme (Last Night Together)
