I used to do a lot of business with Troll and Toad years ago, as their prices on single cards were usually excellent, and TCGPlayer wasnt the default TCG marketplace juggernaut it is now

Its a mix of good/bad but overall its definitely for the best

From this mixture of business needs, extant gaming concepts, and repurposed mechanics from Five Magics, Garfield alchemized the Limited Edition Alpha version of Magic in August of 1993

If you are looking to pick up Modern cards, I would get a feel for a deck you like and save up for it long before that time frame
