Fine 19th century Sussex armchair. Rug and the top has splitA fine, untouched (except me giving it a light wax polish) example of the famous Sussex armchair, as made famous by the likes of William Morris, Liberty's, Heals, the Arts and Crafts movement, Aesthetic movement, etc. The design of the 'Sussex' armchair is attributed to Philip Speakman Webb (born 1831 died 1915) and went into production at Morris and Co. from 1865. It's a traditional Sussex stick construction chair made from turned and steam bent
