The First Christmas Card Boxed Notecards Barbara Heller from John Constable (1776–1837) toFrom the Morgan Library & Museum's collection, this image of the first Christmas card printed is reproduced for your own use this holiday season. Designed by John Callcott Horsley (1817 1903) and printed in 1842 by J. R. Jobbins of Holborn, the original card bears the sentiment "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you" and were commissioned by Sir Henry Cole under his "Felix Summerly" pseudonym. Few of the original copies of this card survive!
