Viper's Bugloss grows well on dry sandy soil or chalky or limestone soils, but is adaptable to other soil types including clay or loam. Its upright bright blue flower spikes can be found in the wild on chalk grassland, sand dunes, cliffs and banks from May to September. It is wind and salt tolerant. Its name comes from its spotted stem which is thought to resemble a viper. One of the
