I removed the horrible back panel and the torn areas of tulle from the upper skirt, using the lower fairly good condition of tulle as the upper skirt, and getting a near-matching modern tulle to place underneath to give the correct double spotted layer impression. Painstaking re-embroidery of the bodice, using identical threads and re-using the crystals and beads from the fragments, means the design now matches the original Lesage creation, with Taylor urging the buyer to commission any additional panels from the French couture embroiderer, should it need to be altered from its original shape and size again
